Chocolate Avocado Pudding

Remember Snack Pack Chocolate Puddings? You won’t believe it but this Chocolate Avocado Pudding beats that tasty lunch treat we got as kids. People always give me a look when I mention avocado being the main ingredient but trust me! You’re whole family will be in love!

This pudding is silky smooth, similar to regular pudding ( in my opinion it’s better!) and you hardly taste the avocado. NOTE: Be sure to use very ripe avocados or you will get that strange unripened avocado taste in your pudding. Another reason why this recipe is great, it allows you to use the last few avocados you have hanging around that are on the verge of going bad.

I used an organic unsweetened cocoa powder and maple syrup for this recipe. You can use honey if you prefer. I always start with two tablespoons of both cocoa powder and maple syrup, and taste as a blend. Sometimes if the avocados aren’t very ripe you might want to add more cocoa powder and maple syrup.

You do need another liquid in this recipe to give the pudding its silky texture. I usually use unsweetened vanilla almond milk. If you don’t have this or want to use a different non-dairy liquid, try anything you like. Another option I like to use is oat milk, but regular dairy milk is also good. Use the same measurement in the recipe AND you might want to add in some vanilla extract to really boost the chocolate flavour. I highly recommend coconut milk of you really want am extra creamy pudding. This recipe is very versatile and the exciting part is adding some toppings to finish it off. My go to is roasted almonds but really the list is endless; pistachios, peanuts, berries, chia seeds. For a big boost of flavour, blend in some natural peanut butter to enhance the chocolate flavour. My kids loves this!

Chocolate Avocado Pudding

Prep Time: 5 Minutes


  • two ripened avocados
  • 2-3 tbsp. of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 tbsp of maple syrup or honey
  • 2-3 tbsp non- dairy or dairy of choice
  • Pinch of salt (not a lot but enough to enhance the chocolate flavour)
  • ** optional: add 1/4 tsp of pure vanilla extract for another flavour boost.


  1. Add all ingredients into a blender or food processor.
  2. Blend on high for 1 minute. Scrap the sides and blend again on high for another minute.
  3. Chill and serve. If I want to eat it right away, I will place my avocados in the fridge ahead of time.
