Lemon Turmeric Sorbet

We finally have warm summer weather! Mother Nature took her time but I believe it’s here to stay! Can’t believe June is almost here! Finishing off May with a “Bloat Challenge”. I will be focusing on my diet to help reset my gut health.

We have had a wild month and let’s just say I’ve kind of slowed down a bit in the health and fitness department. But I’m getting these wheels back in gear, and I’m going to rock this 7-Day challenge hosted by Royally Fit.

I know I’m going to have some sweet cravings during the challenge, so I’m making one of my favourite treats! Turmeric and lemon sorbet. This delicious, sweet, slightly sour treat is going to have your taste buds dancing. Not to mention the benefits lemon and turmeric have in your digestive system, will leave you guilt free.

Lemons have many benefits from: vitamins, minerals, indigestion, constipation, high blood pressure, skin, hair and nails.

Turmeric is filled with antioxidants, has anti-inflammatory, and has been proven to fight against many diseases such as Alzheimer’s Disease.

This sorbet does have a slight kick to it because of the black pepper. Yes! Black pepper is called for in this recipe to help activate the turmeric. So your digestive system gets the full effect! This is why I love the lemon in the sorbet, because it’s strong acidic flavour along with the maple syrup. Help mask the black pepper heat. You truly will have a delightful experience while eating this yummy treat.

And the best part! It’s super easy to make. All you need is a blender and a container to store it in! No big mess and you can make it in less than ten minutes. Talk about best recipe ever! Also the ingredients needed are not very expensive, making it a cheap dessert!

Turmeric + Lemon Sorbet

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 cup – 1 cup maple syrup (your choice on how sweet you would like this treat)
    Zest of two lemons
    1 Cup of fresh lemon juice
    1 tsp of turmeric
    1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients into a blender
  2. Blend for one minute on high
  3. Poor into a container and freeze for four hours.
  4. Serve!

**No Almond Milk: substitute with any dairy or water works! Blend in yogurt to make it creamy or coconut milk.

** No Maple Syrup: use honey instead
